What have you learned from your audience feedback?

click the podcasts to listen to my evaluation below unfortunately due to my two podcasts reaching the limit of publishing podcasts for a day on podbean I will post the remaining four podcasts tomorrow on blogger, First I will try on podbean tomorrow if it does not work I will post the rest on Podomatic or directly embed it on my blog. I had to use podomatic in addition to podbean because my limit on podbean exceeded yesterday. (http://www.podomatic.com/profile/vivianbrown-esumai) (http://vivianbrownesumai.podbean.com/)

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

My Evaluation Plan

Narrative
2 types of narrative
1.       Linear ( clear beginning and end)
2.       Non-linear (no clear beginning middle and end)
[features: altering chronology such as flashback and flash forwards]  è ( order of events)
Circular
Concurrent  narratives
(e.g. narratives & performance strand in music video)

Todorov theory
(structuralist- theorist – common structures/linear)
Equilibrium/disequilibrium è new equilibrium
5 stage: establishment    è  (problem/disruption) development è  complication è action climax è resolution
In music video I will speak about some of these stages to some extent.
Levi-Strauss – structuralist
Binary oppositions
ð  Narratives need oppositions & conflict è tension which drives narratives forward
Good v. Bad
e.g gender good and bad or tension between the genders attitudes and values
male vs female
crime vs law order
greed vs generosity

Goodwin’s theory for music video
Roland Barthes
Codes in narrative
Visual code – shot, editing effect
Sound code – effect, music
Actions codes

Post-modernism
ð  Mix & match          ‘bricolage’ (DIY)  - Lyotard
ð  Mix time periods (older-style movies)
Genres, narrative, styles of storytelling.
e.g music video postmodern one minutes artist looking into the camera and singing then he is in a 3rd person narrative view.
è High – Shakespeare, opera, classical & popular culture – slang, music, clothing
ð  Intertextuality - specific reference made to another media product.

e.g music video the beginning of the music video on brick wall location and then the station location where the girls are dancing.

I will link my six case studies to the six print products and I will link my afrobeat promo video case study to my final promo video.

Creative Technologies

I will be using Slideshare, Prezi, Youtube,  Piktochart, creating a podcast, Glogster and  Weebly.

How I will use the Technologies

I will use Slideshare for the first question because I have used Slideshare before and I am most comfortable with this in giving a detailed response for question one it will be easy to read through because of the amount of information needed for this question I like the design templates on Powerpoint, I like the idea of exporting Powerpoint powerpoint on Slide share. The only problem is that I cannot upload a youtube video or sound to slideshare. But I will be able to give screenshots of the promo video and my case study.

I will use Piktochart and Prezi for the second question because it is highly creative, I am able to include audio, and videos to this which will be easier to analyse the effectiveness of the combination of the main products which include print products and the promo video.  It will be easy to move around the presentation and zoom in and out to each section that has a response linking to the question for example How three texts use similar themes, or similar house styles. I want to compare my case study to my final product also I want to compare professional promo video ideas to my music promo video to see how it was used and if it was effective.

I will  create a Podcast and upload it on PodBean and Youtube video for the third question, I want to film and edit my target audience feedback youtube video and I can include what my other target audience said on text or on audio. I did not get enough audience feedback on our youtube video 'Vibe Squad Cover'  we had one comment 'YAS' this is just another way of saying YES. It is a social network slang of saying you like something or you agree with it. I will also be creating a Podcast responding to both the positive and negative feedback from my youtube video and I will suggest new ideas and changes for the future and embed it on my blog.

I will use Weebly for the fourth question because I want to create my own website with my own colour scheme, layouts and be able to drag and drop an about box, contact details and include an image. I want to embed images of my final print product on the web page and also my planning and research stage for example my story board and costume plan.  I want to also post a piktochart  to make it very creative.  I will be posting Youtube videos, Google images, Editing notes and photography equipments such as what camera my group and I used, tripod, studio lights, reflectors and how and why we used it in some parts of the production stages not others.

Producing Print Product Deadline!

Designing The Front Cover

We have started to create and design the front cover of the CD digipak, the blank spaces will be photographs, when we get the photographs done we will adjust the images according to it the right position. The margins are there so it text or images will not overlap and they are precisely fixed. If it does overlap I think I should direct the models to stretch their arms not to far and the photographer (Marvellous) instead of her taking a long shot she will need to take a wide mid shot without zooming in so the two male models arms will not be cut off.

Our photoshoot is later on today during the afternoon...

Print Product Call Sheet 2

All three models should bring black shirts and both male artists should also bring white shirts.
I need one of my colleague to contact the female model to come early to get her make up done and dressed at 12:00pm.

Insert for the Digipak

We used this template for the insert of the CD digi packaging, we changed the layout to 6 inserts  like the Fuse ODG album insert.  This means we do not need to take surplus photography for 12 inserts because there is not enough time as our deadline is soon approaching.
On the left insert is DROP  lyrics, once we take me photographs we can complete the CD digi packaging.

Our deadline for producing the post-production is next week Monday so we need to book a time for Friday that will fit our models schedule.

Digipak and Advert Update!

Editing and Designing

When we were designing in photoshop we faced some problems while creating the pages, Once Elma had put in the measurements from the template and started adding pictures, when she zoomed in everything looked blurry, out of focus, the resolution looked very poor.

Elma and I went to speak to a media technician to see how to ask what the problem was if it was the measurements or the quality of the pictures. We were told that it the resolution was on 90 and it should be on 300!

300! That's really high I am still shocked, now we have high resolution and good photography for our advert.
We added the colours from the previous team discussion  and also more detail to the advert. Including a higher  resolution on  photoshop.

Digipak back cover
The Spine is simple with the black background, yellow and red font.

We will be getting some audience feedback tomorrow. In the meantime we will need to book the studio for more photographs for our front cover and  inserts. However we need to make sure that our time fits our models timetable schedules.

Digipak and Advert Designing

Today we started to design the insert, spine and editing the advert from landscape to portrait to follow the conventions of music adverts.

Editing advert on photoshop

I feel perhaps there is something else missing like vital information about the single DROP, it looks bland, I think that we should use the colours from the colourful costume -  green, yellow, orange, red to make it stand out. Hopefully we all agree on the changes to make it look eye catching.

E.M.V Production Digipak Discussion

Ideas for Digipak

Currently we are planning and discussing the ideas for our digipak below are some photographs of the plan and ideas. I thought it would be a good idea to make a visual plan with paper for how we want our CD, and insert would look like. It was very helpful, as from this we were able to create a mock up which will be effective and efficient before the shoot and after.  These ideas may change as it depends on how much photographs we take. We decided to have a 12-page insert which will include mostly good photography, the next photoshoot will be on Monday depending on our model's schedule.

Post Production

Music Magazine Advert

Today we started editing our photography for the music magazine advert. The page will be portrait so it will fit the coventions of music magazine adverts from my case studies Keri Hilson and Waje. In addition we have started to design and fit in eye catching detail!

Tomorrow EMV productions will have a meeting to have another look and opinions on the advert then we will plan our CD Digipak.
