Editing Day 3

 Editing Everything

(main focus today is on the Journey of the actress, TV Studio and the ending)

The footages are all on Final cut pro

We edited the Canteen scene which we changed to a corridor in college we had to cut the POV shot  and also Akyni's journey to make it look plausible.  And the ending of the promo video by cutting the footage with all of the three actors dancing, we used two different angles so we had to merge those together. We wanted to add a split screen but we decided to remove it because it was not  looking good instead we may use monochrome effect or consider something else.

You just have to wait to see  E.M.V Productions in the screening, including other Music Promo video and various genres of Short Films.
We hope to have some feedback from our target audience.

Date: Tuesday 25th November.

Location: In College, Room A9/
The Editing Suite

Time:10:20am - 11:30am

New Actors

Earlier this week Elma and Marvellous asked their friends Euwan, Robert and Akiniyi to feature in our music promo video, they had to plead with them, as they have other commitments but they were willing to lip sync, act and dance!

In this video the boys are lip syncing the lyrics 'Vibe Squad' even though they are not fully in sync we can edit this on Final Cut Pro. As long as the timing of the lip sync is in time with the song.

As you can see we changed locations from the shop shutter to a brick wall and a green cargo back. That was because we do not have enough time to travel to the shutter and back so we have to use the location that is on our footsteps. I spoke to one of my friends Ben and Kwamz who fit our target audience this week their feedback was that they like the idea of the brick wall because it looks much more realistic for a guy to wait for his friend than to wait at a shop shutter. In addition my response was would they want to see more dancing or more lip syncing because it is a music video and not a film so should we move away from the narrative.  Teresa says that she wants both but more of the dancing. I assume that they want a performance based video.

I explained that we researched a few promo music videos and I hope that we would use some of the ideas from my video from my case study for example 'Zagada' and 'It's on again'  is mainly performance and conceptual based not really focused on the narrative. I will feedback to my team and see what we can change to make our filming engage to our audience.

The artists are lip syncing on camera, they seem camera shy and nervous. Their lip syncing was off  but we will not give up, they will be much confident if they learn the lyrics. We will be filming tomorrow and on Friday. They will have to learn it before these days.

Actors Complications

We planned to create a call sheet for this week but one of our actors had a production to rehearse for and he was not available when we needed him. I had to contact another male who would be willing to do it, Osagie is reliable and is willing to lip sync but not dance or act, I persuaded him to do it even though he Afrobeat is not his cup of tea. I printed out a lyric sheet for him and sent him the song via whatsapp.

New Actors & Planning

Today we were able to audition Shaun from the performing arts and he is prepared to lip sync, dance and act, but his timetable is quite tight. I spoke to Michael two weeks ago but he was not certain about the genre but he seemed pleased about the dancing and acting due to not knowing the lyrics well, I printed out the lyric sheet and gave it to him hoping that he makes some time to learn the lyrics.

Recently he contacted  Elma and Marvellous because he was interested to lip sync, dance or act. We will ask if he is allowed out of lesson because his lesson can sometimes run through lunch breaks or if we cannot get him for the canteen shoot, I think that we could do it in the morning during college or after college so that we have less people in the video because besides lunch times can get crowed.

We have Michael and Shaun, now!

Actors complication

In the past weeks we had problems with fitting our schedules with the actors and getting them out of lessons, later we discovered that the male actors were unreliable so we had to find and contact actors who fit our description for afrobeats.
However finding the two new males actors was difficult. We needed two guys who were brave to dance, confident in acting and in lip syncing.

Firstly, they should know the lyrics a week before we film. This has stalled set back our filming. There is one particular part of the music video where we have to get all our actors together in the one shoot that is why we could not film from the any part of the story board. Our deadline is soon approaching to finish filming is 10th November!

In the half-term we are going to film in Prince Regent Station with the two female dancers Lianne and Lauren as they are ready to be filmed.
